Nurtiva is participating in CNN Call to Earth Day 2026, a global day of environmental action taking place on October 8. This year’s theme is Think Blue, with a focus on oceans, rivers, waterways and conservation action.
CNN is inviting schools, organisations, communities and individuals to take practical action and share their activities. Suggested activities include river or beach cleanups, reducing single use plastics, water conservation education, habitat restoration and other local environmental actions.
Nurtiva’s commitment
Nurtiva is calling on all members to participate in Call to Earth Day by taking at least one practical environmental action on or around October 8.
This commitment connects with Nurtiva’s work in:
- Water and wetlands
- Environmental restoration
- Sustainable food systems
- Community participation
- Youth environmental action
Ways to participate
Members can choose an action that fits their community, resources and interests.
Water and waterways Organise or join a river, stream, wetland or community waterway cleanup. You can also document a local water challenge or support practical water conservation.
Waste and plastics Reduce unnecessary single use plastic, support responsible waste disposal or organise a local awareness activity.
Restoration Plant and care for vegetation around water sources or restore another small part of the local environment.
Education Share practical information about water conservation and environmental protection with children, students, neighbours or community groups.
Creative action Use photography, drawing, music, writing or another creative format to communicate an environmental issue or action.
How to take part as a Nurtiva member
1. Choose one action.
Select a practical activity that is relevant to your community.
2. Involve others.
Invite friends, family members, students, neighbours or community groups where appropriate.
3. Document the activity.
Record the location, date, number of participants and what was done. Photos or short videos can also be shared with Nurtiva.
4. Share your action.
Send your activity or documentation to Nurtiva so we can record and share the collective contribution of our members.
