TRUST & ACCOUNTABILITY
Donations & Refunds
We want people who support Nurtiva to understand how giving works, what a donation means and what happens if something goes wrong.
Last updated: 21 August 2026
1. Our current status
Nurtiva is an emerging, community led initiative in Rwanda and is not yet a registered NGO. We will not describe donations as tax deductible unless that becomes legally accurate and is clearly stated at the time of giving.
Secure online donations are still being configured. Before public donation processing begins, this page will be updated with the payment provider, accepted currency or currencies and any important transaction information.
2. One time and recurring donations
When online giving is activated, visitors may be offered one time or recurring donation options. The frequency, amount and currency selected at the point of donation will control the payment instruction sent to the payment provider.
A recurring donation continues according to the selected schedule until it is cancelled, expires or is otherwise stopped by the donor, the payment provider or Nurtiva.
3. Cancelling recurring donations
Donors will be able to cancel future recurring payments using the method provided by the payment service or by contacting Nurtiva for assistance. Cancelling a recurring donation stops future scheduled payments and does not automatically reverse payments that have already been completed.
4. Donation errors and refund requests
If you believe a donation was made in error, duplicated, processed for the wrong amount or made without your authorisation, please contact Nurtiva as soon as reasonably possible through our Contact page.
Refund requests will be reviewed in light of the circumstances, applicable law, the payment provider’s rules and whether the funds have already been irreversibly committed or transferred. We will not promise a refund in every case, but we will review genuine errors and unauthorised transactions fairly.
5. Payment providers, fees and currency
Secure payments will be handled by the payment service connected to the Nurtiva website. That service may apply transaction rules, conversion rates or fees. Where relevant, the currency and any information available to Nurtiva about fees will be shown or linked at the point of donation.
Nurtiva does not ask donors to send full payment card details through ordinary Contact or Get Involved forms.
6. How donations may be used
Unless a donation is expressly accepted for a specific restricted purpose, Nurtiva may use donations where they are reasonably needed across community programmes, project preparation, delivery, maintenance, learning, safeguarding, administration and other costs that help the work function responsibly.
We aim to distinguish clearly between planned activities and achieved results. A donation supports the work but does not guarantee that a particular proposed activity or outcome will occur exactly as first described.
7. Restricted donations
If Nurtiva expressly accepts a donation for a named purpose, we will aim to use it for that purpose. If the purpose later becomes impossible, inappropriate or no longer reasonably achievable, we will seek to handle the donation responsibly, including contacting the donor where reasonably possible or following applicable legal requirements.
8. Receipts and records
Where the payment system provides a receipt or confirmation, donors should keep it for their records. Nurtiva may also retain donation records for financial accountability, fraud prevention, reporting and legal obligations in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
9. Fraud, disputes and chargebacks
Nurtiva may pause, reject or investigate a transaction where there is a reasonable concern about fraud, misuse, sanctions, legal restrictions or payment security. Donors should contact us before starting a payment dispute where possible so that genuine errors can first be reviewed directly.
10. Changes to this information
We will update this page when the donation system is activated or when our fundraising arrangements materially change. The current version will show its latest update date at the top.
11. Questions about a donation
For a donation question, cancellation request or refund request, please use our Contact page and clearly state that your message relates to a donation.
