Green Harvest SolarLOOPs

Solar-powered irrigation for more reliable growing.

Green Harvest SolarLOOPs is planned for Remera Sector, Musanze District, connecting clean energy with practical irrigation to support crops, nurseries and stronger year-round production.

LOCATION

Remera Sector, Musanze District

FOCUS

Solar-powered irrigation

CURRENT FOCUS

Remera system design & partnerships

THE CHALLENGE

Growing needs water when rainfall cannot be relied on.

Rain-dependent crops and nurseries can lose momentum when rainfall is late, irregular or insufficient. SolarLOOPs is being developed to make irrigation more reliable while reducing dependence on fuel-based pumping.

Who it supports: farmers, community growers, nurseries and demonstration spaces in Remera that can benefit from more dependable irrigation and practical local maintenance.

WHAT WE DO

Use the sun to move water where growing needs it.

Solar-powered pumping

Use renewable energy to power irrigation and reduce dependence on fuel-based pumping.

Efficient irrigation

Move and apply available water more reliably for crops, nurseries and demonstration plots.

Local operation & maintenance

Build practical roles and skills for checking, operating and maintaining supported systems.

Learn before scaling

Track performance, water use, maintenance needs and community feedback before adapting the model elsewhere.

NEXT MILESTONE

Build the first Remera system around local needs.

Current work in Remera focuses on confirming the practical water need, appropriate system design, local roles and technical partnerships for the first installation.

Confirm the irrigation need

Assess the growing areas, available water source and the irrigation demand the first system should serve.

Complete technical design

Match the water source, pump, solar capacity, storage and distribution approach to the site before installation.

Agree local roles

Define who will operate, check and maintain the system so responsibility is built in from the start.

2031 DIRECTION

Build a practical solar-irrigation model that can last.

RELIABLE

Water for growing
Support more dependable irrigation for crops, nurseries and demonstration spaces.

SOLAR

Clean energy
Use solar power to reduce dependence on fuel-based pumping where the system is appropriate.

LOCAL

Maintenance
Build local operation, care and learning into the system from the start.

2031 project direction: reliable irrigation, clean energy and local maintenance that communities can sustain.

TAKE PART

Help build the first SolarLOOPs system in Remera.

We welcome technical partners, community collaborators and supporters working on solar pumping, irrigation, water management and climate-resilient agriculture.
