Indatana Movement Clubs

Helping young people see agriculture differently.

Practical agriculture, creativity, enterprise and youth leadership—connected through learning by doing.

LOCATION

Musanze District, Rwanda

CURRENT FOCUS

School partnerships & learning design

PARTICIPANTS

Students, school communities and nearby farmers

THE CHALLENGE

Agriculture needs a new story for young people.

Growing up in Musanze, I saw both the value of farming and the pressures small farmers face—from irrigation and climate challenges to markets and changing youth interest. I also heard agriculture described as work for people with fewer opportunities.

Who it supports: students, school communities, nearby farmers and young people who can benefit from practical agriculture, climate learning, creativity and leadership.

WHAT WE DO

Learning that moves between school and community.

Practical agriculture

Use school clubs and demonstration spaces to learn soil, crops, climate resilience and environmental stewardship by doing.

Farmer + student exchange

Bring local experience, youth curiosity and technical knowledge into shared practical learning.

Enterprise & markets

Explore pricing, demand, records, value addition, promotion and the wider opportunities around agriculture.

Creativity for learning

Use music, arts, storytelling, photography and digital media to understand and communicate agricultural and environmental ideas.

WORK IN MOTION

Youth and community conversations are shaping the first clubs.

Youth and community conversations have already helped shape the agriculture-and-creativity club model.

NEXT MILESTONE

Shape the first school clubs.

Current work is confirming participating schools, technical partners, baseline tools, demonstration designs and the first club calendar.

Confirm schools & roles

Agree participating schools, club responsibilities and how students, teachers, farmers and partners will contribute.

Test the learning model

Refine practical activities, demonstration spaces, baseline tools and the club calendar through the first club activities.

Safeguarding comes first

Use appropriate consent, safe practical activities, responsible photography and storytelling, and meaningful participation for girls and boys.
